Our philosophy

Here at Kimpton Preschool, we know that the only way to truly understand children is to spend quality time with them and build relationships that are based on sincerity and fun. Children learn at their highest level during play but for this to be achieved there needs to be quality and spontaneity. It takes time and sensitivity to ‘tune in’ to our children, to wallow in their play, alongside them. By taking the time to really get to know our children – and their parents and carers – we believe we offer the very best early years experience.

An Ofsted Outstanding, community-run preschool

Run by and for our local community, we welcome all children from Kimpton and the surrounding area. Parents past and present manage the business while qualified and knowledgeable staff deliver the education and early years care.

When can my child start?

We take children aged between two and five years old. Our admissions code is based on a combination of factors, but mainly the age of your child and their time on the waiting list. Make sure you don't miss out on a place by registering your child as soon as possible.

Session times

We offer morning sessions from Monday to Friday, 8.50am to 11.50am. Sessions run during term time and cost just £16.50. Children must attend a minimum of two sessions a week and we strive to offer the full 15-hour entitlement to those children who are eligible for funding.

Lunch Club

Our Lunch Club runs from Monday to Friday, 11.50am to 1.20pm. For just £8 your child can enjoy some extra play time and a freshly prepared lunch, prepared in accordance with the Children's Food Trust guidelines. Ask at the office for details of how to join.

Working in partnership

We have a more positive impact on children’s learning by working closely with those who know them best - their parents and carers. We'll work with you to ensure your child receives appropriate, tailored support to get the most out of their time with us.

Measuring progress

At Kimpton Preschool we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which recognises that all children are unique. We'll observe your child and document their progress in a Learning Journal, to ensure that we're meeting their individual needs at every stage.
